About YERI

Mission

The Yale Existential Risks Initiative (YERI) raises awareness and cultivates advocacy among students at Yale University around global issues that pose existential threats to humanity, with special emphasis on nuclear warfare, biological terrorism, artificial intelligence disasters, and the intersection of these issues with each other and the climate crisis. By spreading and centralizing the insight of policymakers, academics, and organizers on these issues, YERI aims to inspire Yale students to help prevent the man-made end of humanity as we know it, and to open concrete pathways to do so.
